Description
No Beep Sound From Barcode Scanner When Scanning: This indicates a physical problem with the barcode scanner or label.
Barcode Scanner is Faulty: Faulty scanners must be reported to the care home manager or IT team so that they can be re-set / reconfigured or so a replacement can be purchased.
Defect in the Barcode: If the barcode on the pharmacy label appears to be of poor quality, e.g. if it is blurred or has a defect/line through it, this must also be fed back to the store team and a manual process applied.
Placement of the Barcode:
- Barcode on small or curved items should be applied using a flag label.
- Barcode needs to be as flat as possible in order to successfully scan and should not go around the corners of boxes.
- Continued concerns relating to the position/placement of the barcode must be escalated to your Boots store.
- Error Message Invalid Bar Code(s) in Med Round.
- Error Message Unrecognised Barcode in Monthly Check In / Interim Check In / Drug Disposal.
- The item scanned is incorrect or the barcode on the item has been scanned instead of the barcode on the dispensing label.
- New data containing recent barcode has been rejected.
- If all of the above issues have been ruled out it may be that the store have not provided the correct barcode.
- This must be escalated back to your pharmacy and manual process applied.
